More about nouns - 4

 Dear Students 

Nouns are names. They have 5 types - 

1. Proper nouns (व्यक्तिवाचक संज्ञा) - This noun refers to names of specific person,  place,  thing etc. 

Example  - Taj Mahal,  Mumbai, Mr. Anand, America,  Himalyas etc. 

Note - Proper nouns का प्रत्येक  word capital letter  से शुरू होता है । Example  - Delhi, Sunil, Hari Singh,  Max etc.

2. Common noun (जातिवाचक संज्ञा) - This noun refers to common names of things, places etc.

This noun refers to group of things, places etc.

Example  - garden, boy, school,  city, chair etc.

3. Abstract noun (भाववाचक संज्ञा) - This noun refers to emotions,  feelings, values etc. 

इस noun को हम सिर्फ feel कर सकते हैं ।  We cannot touch or see it.

Example  - Heat, warmth, honesty, bravery, truth etc.

Note - Abstract nouns  को हम verb & Adjective  से बना सकते हैं.  

Example  - 

  Runs   -   race

  Speak. -  Speech

  Give.     -  Gift

  Good     -   good eas

  High.     -    Weight etc.

4. Collective Nouns  (संग्रहात्मक संज्ञा) - This noun refers to the collection of a specific type of common noun.  Example  - Team (collection of players) , Class (collection of Students) , Swarm (group or collection of bees) etc. 

Note - Collective Nouns  के साथ  singular  अथवा  plural verbs का प्रयोग हो सकता है ।

1- The police  is/are investigating the case.

 2- My family are/is going to Mumbai next week. 

5. Material Nouns (द्रव्यवाचक संज्ञा)  - This noun refers to the states of matter such as solid, liquid and gaseous forms. Example  - Air, water, metal, wind, ice etc.


आओ अब हम एक  exercise  try करते हैं.  

. Find out Various Nouns fom below given sentences  - (only colour words) 

1. Mohan Singh is my neighbour.  

2. He lives in a city. 

3. He is known for honesty and truth.

4. A small family is a happy family.

5. Boys will be boys.

6. Slow and steady wins the race.

7. My house is big and cosy.

8. This train goes to Bhopal..

9. Sangram is the monitor of his class.

10. Chennai is a big city.
